Leapfrog

A web and mobile platform for forest projects and agricultural supply chains

Track the work Check the evidence Follow the payment

Leapfrog is a digital platform and application being developed to connect field activities and commodity deliveries with the evidence needed to check what is due, what has been paid and to whom it was paid.

For project teams, producers and buyers working towards more accountable projects and supply chains.

The missing link is often the record.

A delivery note, an attendance sheet, a photograph and a payment receipt may each tell part of the story. When they sit in separate systems, it becomes harder to establish who did the work or supplied the goods, how much they should receive, and whether the payment matches.

Leapfrog is designed to bring these records together so that teams and participants can check, explain and challenge what happened.

Follow the evidence

Connect activities and deliveries to the people, locations and supporting documents behind them.

Check what is due

Make agreed quantities, rates and conditions easier to review alongside amounts due and payment records.

Spot gaps earlier

Help teams identify missing evidence, inconsistent records and differences between expected and recorded payments.

THE WORKFLOW BEING DEVELOPED

From field evidence to a payment record

Record

Capture the activity or delivery, the people involved and supporting evidence, such as quantities, photographs or location data.

Review

Check the evidence against agreed rules, record corrections and approvals, and establish the amount due.

Reconcile

Link payments made through existing channels to the underlying records, then check receipt and investigate differences.

Designed around field realities

Development priorities include offline field recording, practical ways to include participants without smartphones, and careful handling of personal and location data. Consultation and testing with partners are shaping how Leapfrog fits into existing working practices and connects with other systems.

CURRENT PILOT FOCUS

Two settings. A shared record problem.

CAMEROON · FOREST RESTORATION

Connecting work and payment

With Iroko Analytics and CTFC, the pilot focuses on linking restoration activities and participation records with supporting evidence, amounts due and payment confirmation.

Part of Towards inclusive governance for forest carbon markets, led by Transparency International, with support from the UK FCDO’s FGMC2 programme.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA · COCOA

Connecting deliveries and payment

Working with NRE People, PlesLain and Cora, the pilot focuses on linking growers’ cocoa deliveries to quantities, agreed prices, amounts due and evidence of payment through existing channels.

Supported by The Waterloo Foundation through Scaling traceability to stop tropical deforestation.
